Credit cards ‘best’ for last minute shopping
Posted 2007-12-19
With only six shopping days left until Christmas, many Britons are getting anxious about when they are going to buy their presents, but using a credit card is still seen as the easiest way to pay, according to experts.
Sainsburys Bank has claimed that around 8.6 million people in the UK intend to put half or more of their last minute shopping on their credit cards, increasing from 6.5 million last year.
And Donald MacLeod, head of cards at the bank, explained: “Cards are a very convenient way of doing your Christmas shopping.
“They can be good for two things: one, so you dont have to carry wads of cash around; theyre very flexible, so if you see something that you really want to get somebody, then you have that flexibility there to do that.
“The other thing is a lot of cards come with zero per cent on purchases, like our own for example, for 12 months.”
